Hello! I am a 27-year-old graduate student at Columbia. Before school, I spent 4 years teaching in NYC public schools working with students with severe developmental and emotional disabilities. I loved my job, but ultimately wanted to pursue education development and reform outside of the classroom. With that said, I do miss my students daily. Reading, making art, and exploring on field trips with them was the highlight of my career as a teacher. So it makes perfect sense that I would babysit part-time while putting myself through grad school.
My 1st babysitting job, at age 12, was with a family of 4 boys under the age of 8, the youngest of which was only five months old! It was a fast learning curve. And since then, I have worked with children of all ages, personalities, interests, and lifestyles.
I can be as high-energy or as low-key as you and your children need. I love animals, although if you have a cage full of hamsters, I might stay in the other room. I ve traveled quite extensively and have a knack for picking up languages quickly, so I m comfortable navigating the basics of any other language spoken in the house.
Most importantly, while I like to be silly, play games, and have fun, my experience as a teacher and life-long babysitter has taught me how to make the mundane (eating healthy, brushing teeth, bedtime stories, falling asleep on time) just as fun as the rest. My evening and weekend schedule is very flexible, and since graduate school and studying have made my social life nearly obsolete, that means I am more than available to babysit for your night out!
